What we do when we arrive
Our first job is to make the installation safe. That might mean isolating a damaged circuit so the rest of the property can be powered back up, or isolating the supply entirely until a repair can be made.
Then we find the cause. We use insulation resistance, loop impedance and RCD testers to trace the fault instead of guessing or swapping parts. We explain what has gone wrong in plain English, tell you what the repair will cost, and only go ahead once you agree.

It depends on where you are, how many jobs our electricians already have booked and London traffic. We don't promise arrival times we can't keep. When you call, we check who is available and give you an honest estimated attendance time before you book.
What should I do if my fuse board keeps tripping?
Don't keep resetting it or tape the switch on. Unplug everything on the affected circuit and try the switch again. If it now stays on, plug things back in one at a time to find the faulty appliance. If it trips with nothing plugged in, the fault is in the fixed wiring or an accessory and needs an electrician. See our fuse board repairs page for more detail.
Can you investigate a complete loss of electricity?
Yes. First check whether your neighbours have power. If the whole street is out, it's a network fault: call your network operator on 105. If it's just your property, check whether the main switch or an RCD on your consumer unit has tripped. If power won't restore, call us and we'll find the cause.
What should I do if a socket smells of burning?
Stop using it, unplug anything connected if it is safe to touch, and switch off the circuit at the consumer unit. Don't use the socket again until it has been inspected. If there is smoke, flames or the plug is too hot to touch, leave the property and call 999.
Do you provide emergency electrical repairs for businesses?

Can you replace a faulty consumer unit?
Yes. We replace old fuse boxes and damaged or faulty consumer units with modern units with RCD protection, test the installation, notify the work under Part P through NAPIT and issue an Electrical Installation Certificate. More on our consumer unit replacement page.
Are you a 24-hour electrician?
We don't advertise a 24-hour service. We take urgent call-outs and attend as soon as an electrician is available. Call us to find out what we can offer right now.
What should I do while I wait for the electrician?
If it's safe to do so, switch off the affected circuit, or the main switch, at the consumer unit. Unplug appliances on that circuit, keep people away from damaged accessories and don't attempt repairs yourself. If anything is smoking or burning, leave the property and call 999.
I'm a tenant. Can I call you?
Yes. We can make a dangerous situation safe, but for further repairs we'll usually need your landlord or letting agent to authorise the work and agree who pays.
Do you charge an emergency callout fee?
Any call-out or attendance charge, and our rates for the work, will be explained clearly on the phone before we book an electrician. You won't be surprised by charges you weren't told about.
Do you provide quotations before starting work?
Yes. For planned work we provide a written quotation. For urgent repairs, the electrician explains what they have found and the cost of the repair, and only goes ahead once you have agreed.
